Cowboy Bebop gets Reeves

In case you missed it, Movieweb reports that “Fox is set to bring one of the most popular anime series of all time to the silver screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Fox is bringing the beloved series Cowboy Bebop to the big screen. Keanu Reeves has signed on to portray the lead, Spike Spiegel. The series revolves around Spiegel and Jet Black, two bounty hunters in the year 2071, who pilot the ship, “Bebop” and travel through “astral gates” that allow for inter-stellar travel, to track down the galaxy’s criminals. Peter Craig is writing the script for the anime adaptation, though no director has been attached as of yet. No production schedule was released at this time.”

Now I have never had any issues with Keanu Reeves as an actor. Sure some of his work can be lackluster, but he was able to hold his ground in such action films like the Matrix Trilogy. Understandably, Cowboy Bebop, if done properly offers the audience a great deal of action and eye candy. Now we can only hope that Fox doesn’t screw this up. (Remember they brought us Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li)
