I go bye-bye!
Word comes from Crainsnewyork.com that Central Park Media Corp. is officially dunzo. The article is quoted as stating that “hit by the global recession and long-term uncertainty over New York’s tax credit on film and television production, a growing number of production businesses are going bankrupt… Central Park Media Corp., which produced Japanese-style animation, filed for Chapter 7 and closed down Monday as well… Central Park Media owes $1.2 million.” Chapter 7 allows for the company to be liquidation of all its assets.
Central Park Media had been a leading supplier of anime in the United States since 1990 and offered products under U. S. Manga Corps, Central Park Media and Software Sculptors. They held exclusive rights to hundreds of book, video and music products, as well as live action Japanese feature films under its Asia Pulp Cinema label.
