Futurama, best DVD set ever coming this October…

So one of my most favorite shows is finally coming to DVD as a complete boxset. This October 13th, for the suggested retail price of $169.98, you can get your hands on Futurama: The Complete Collection. This massive 19-disc set contains all 72 episodes & 4 original movies (Futurama: Bender’s Big Score, Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs, Futurama: Bender’s Game, and Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder). Get ready to bend before Bender b*tches.

Oh yeah, I am happy now!

According to Variety, the five original cast members (John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Maurice LaMarche, and Tress MacNeille) of Futurama have arrived to an agreement with 20th Century Fox to return for the 26 new episodes for Comedy Central. Like everything in life, the center of the dispute was over money. The reboot will operate at a lower budget, seeking lower production, writing, and lead times.

Either way, this is great news. I have always loved Futurama over its predecessor The Simpsons.

UPDATE: It is official, according to Variety, Futurama is indeed coming back, but not for 13 episodes, but rather a full 23 episode season. Variety goes on to state that “Comedy Central will begin airing the new episodes in mid-2010. Voice actors Billy West (who played Philip Fry), Katey Sagal (Leela) and John DiMaggio (Bender) have all signed on to return.”

Original Story - According the folks at Collider.com, the answer is yes. Purely rumor, but it seems that Cartoon Network has ordered 13 new episodes for a show that had its last new episode in August of 2003. I personally have always been a huge fan of Futurama, and would love for this to be totally true. I will even go on to say that Futurama had a bigger presence in my heart than its currently still running behemoth of a predecessor, The Simpsons. To read the original story, click here.

Oh yeah, I am happy now!

According the folks at Collider.com, the answer is yes. Purely rumor, but it seems that Cartoon Network has ordered 13 new episodes for a show that had its last new episode in August of 2003. I personally have always been a huge fan of Futurama, and would love for this to be totally true.
