MTV was able to recently catch up to the man of the hour in regards to his upcoming roles of Deadpool & Green Lantern.

MTV was able to recently catch up to the man of the hour in regards to his upcoming roles of Deadpool & Green Lantern.

The year has been incredible, all across the board. The fact that “Green Lantern” is something that’s about to get going full-steam pretty soon, and then there is “Deadpool” on the horizon as well.

His take on Deadpool:

I really wanted to play Wade, and I really wanted to play Deadpool, and it would kill me to see someone else play them. I had a kind of ham-fisted attitude that it had to be perfect, but it doesn’t. The movie’s called “Wolverine,” it’s not called “Deadpool” or “Wade.” I thought it was a nice little wink and tip of the hat to things to come. Finding the tone of that character alone is such a difficult prospect. I’ve been in so many meetings lately about “Deadpool” and meeting all these writers. Everyone is always looking for that one line, “What is that character?” and for me it’s kind of like, “There’s a guy, and he’s in a highly militarized comedic fame spiral.” That’s not an easy thing to write — an entire screenplay, let alone a franchise. I had a blast playing Wade. Every line I had in that was stuff I thought he would say. It wasn’t something that a writer said to me. It was fun to really create that character, including everything he spits out of his awful mouth.

His take on Green Lantern:

I’ve known about “Green Lantern” my whole life, but I’ve never really followed it before. I fell in love with the character when I met with [director] Martin Campbell. When I sat down with him, I really got what it is that this guy is all about. When you have a guy like Martin Campbell, part of his charm is that he has ba–s of titanium, and the other part is that he’s slightly crazy, and you have to be to take on something with the scope of “Green Lantern.” He’s less of the director and more of a general. He just really knows strategies, he knows the intricacies, and his attention to detail! It’s infectious. I sat down with him, and I could not even believe what he was saying. When I went to the meeting, I was entirely cynical. I thought, “What the hell, I’ll see what they have to say,” and I left the room with a completely different perspective.

Well that is what director Roland Emmerich told MTV recently. You remember ID4 don’t you, the film rocked the box office when it was released in 1996, and brought us Will Smith and Jeff Goldblum kicking alien butt. Not to mention the awe inspiring speech by Bill Pullman is still great to hear even after all this time. So what are they planning to do exactly?

“What we want to do in the next – it’s actually two movies – we want to do a bigger arc… ‘ID4-ever,’ Part I and II maybe?… The idea is just to continue the story and actually I don’t know how many years ago this was—twelve, thirteen, fourteen years ago—and just continue where it ended.”

The article goes on to say that Will Smith will also be included in the sequels, and that the project will take place entirely on earth. At this point it is all just talk. There is no script and there is no telling if and when this will actually come together.

After 21 years it seems one of the best movies that came out of the late eighties is finally moving a step closer to getting a sequel. Who Framed Roger Rabbit, the critically acclaimed hit that mixed live action and animated characters in an unforgettable movie, may get to bless us on the big screen again. Robert Zemeckis, in an interview with MTV, has let it be known that n0t only is he ready to re-helm the project as director, but has commissioned the original screenwriters Jeffrey Price and Peter Seaman on a script. Check out the video below of the interview.

How awesome is it that we finally get some word on the live action Cowboy Bebop movie. MTV had some time to catch up with Keanu Reeves during a press event for his latest film, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee. If you remember, a few months ago it was reported that he had been cast as the main character of Spike Spiegel. Well, according to Reeves, the latest is…

“There’s a draft of the script, but the writer did such a great job [that] in order to make the movie, you would need half a billion dollars… So the studio went, ‘This movie is fantastic and it would cost half a billion dollars,’ so he’s doing a rewrite.”

“Everyone is in there… The only challenge was to make a satisfying western narrative out of the kind of storytelling that happens… There’s a great draft, so we’re just trying to pull it back a little bit now.”

Definitely good news that the writer (most likely Peter Craig) is definitely putting everything that made Cowboy Bebop great in the script, unfortunately that also means a major budget. Because of this of course, it is now unfortunate that it will have to be all scaled back. If there is any light at the end of the tunnel, it is clearly that they are working to bring something worthy to the table while not simply letting the project fail. I can’t wait!

Could the iconic cartoon duo Beavis and Butthead be heading back to the TV as grumpy old men? According to HollywoodRag, that might just be the case. The series originally ran from March 8, 1993 to November 28, 1997 for 7 seasons & 200 episodes on MTV. Now it seems that creator Mike Judge is supposedly thinking of a comeback.

Judge is quoted as saying, “I kind of think of them as being either 15 or in their 60s. I wouldn’t mind doing something with them as these two dirty old men sitting on the couch. In between then? I don’t know. At one point I thought Butthead might do OK on some really low-level sales job. Beavis might be landscaping.”

Time will tell if this will actually happen.

At least that is the word from Justin Chatwin. Chatwin plays the lead role as Goku in the upcoming film, and exclusive word comes from an interview he did with MTV News. It seems although a sequel has yet to be confirmed, it has been penned. Chatwin and co-star Emmy Rossum, playing the role of Bulma, both have expressed their interest in returning for a sequel.

Truth be told, although a sequel may be already written, it all comes down to the numbers Dragonball Evolution can bring in. To read more, click here.

Well it seems that George Miller, the writer and director of the first Mad Max films is in serious consideration of adapting the latest installment into an anime feature film. Ok, for those serious fans, I will wait until you get off the floor to proceed.

Ok, ready to continue. Well I should now mention that he also plans to make the film a 3-D feature. Ok, I will wait again.

This news comes to us through the good folks over at the MTV Movies Blog. George Miller is thankfully quoted as saying “I’ve got a couple of years left… We’re in the early stages writing and designing. A really good game you need two and half years. And for good anime you need two years.”

So we thankfully have some time before any possible abomination or even all around badass-ness rears it head. What are your thoughts?
