Back in October, I mentioned how ANN had given a heads up to the best news I heard all year. The only manga I actually faithfully follow, Gantz, was coming to the big screen as 2 live action films in the winter and spring of 2011. The features stars Kazunari Ninomiya (a member of the Japanese boy band Arashi) and Ken’ichi Matsuyama (best known for playing ‘L’ in the 2006 films Death Note & Death Note: The Last Name). Filming started in November and is expected to end this coming April. Well now we have a teaser trailer to show for it.

Revolving around primarily a pair of high school students, Kei Kurono and Masaru Kato, Gantz follows the story of various people who have died, after which they are summoned to a room where they are forced to partake on deadly missions. On these missions, they must kill all aliens in a certain region to be able to return to their normal lives until they are summoned again. Definitely a series not for the faint of heart due to its extreme violence and sexual nature.

Shrek Forever After will be released on May 21, 2010. Shrek Forever After stars Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz and Antonio Banderas.

So do you kick ass, or at least ever wanted to? Okay, I know many of you have at least wished you were, or could be a superhero. Well, this is the real life, and we don’t have super powers. We can get hurt and we can die, but what if that still didn’t matter. That is what the new film Kick-Ass is pushing on us to believe, and you know what, that kicks ass. The first teaser trailer is online, and well, it kicks ass. Check it out and enjoy!

Kick-Ass stars Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Chloe Moretz and kicks its way into theaters on April 16, 2010. The film is based on the comic book series of the same name written by Mark Millar and illustrated by John Romita, Jr.

If you loved the original Clash of the Titans, the 1981 film of the same name that tells the myth of Persues, then this will definitely get your blood pumping. I am happy to say that the film, at least from the teaser, has the look and feel of the old memorable film, but fully updated. If the film truly carries that feel throughout, then it will be a cold stone winner in my book. Check it out and enjoy!

The film stars Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Danny Huston, Gemma Arterton, Mads Mikkelsen, Jason Flemyng, Alexa Davalos and Izabella Miko. It is scheduled to raise hell on the gods March 26th, 2010.

You should remember Mamoru Oshii as the director of Ghost in the Shell, The Sky Crawlers, and Patlabor. This feature film is a follow-up to his short films Assault Girl: Kentucky no Hinako and Assault Girl 2, of which you can check out the first one below.

Nippon Cinema states the plot is as follows: “In the aftermath of global thermonuclear war, the Earth’s surface has been turned into a desert battlefield. Three beautiful female hunters: Gray (Meisa Kuroki), Lucifer (Rinko Kikuchi), and Colonel (Hinako Saeki) traverse the barren landscape armed with powerful assault rifles to fight a group of deadly sand-dwelling monsters called ’sunakujira’ (sand whales). When the the epic battle eventually seems to be coming to an end, the sparkle of muzzle flash dies down and assault ship flies overhead. Suddenly, a gigantic super mutation called ‘Madara Sunakujira’ attacks.”

Assault Girls will open in Japan on December 19, here is hoping to getting my hands on it over in the states sometime soon.

Great news Krueger fans, Warner Bros. has just unveiled the teaser trailer for A Nightmare on Elm Street, the reboot of the classic film from 1984. Check it out now…

The remake is set to release on April 30, 2010. The film stars Jackie Earle Haley as Freddy Krueger (played originally by Robert Englund) and Rooney Mara as Nancy Thompson (played originally portrayed by Heather Langenkamp).

The latest installment is set ten years (1970) after the events of BioShock. Big Sister, a Little Sister from the original game who is mechanized like a Big Dady, rules the city of Rapture. She has been actively kidnapping young girls from around the world to turn them into creatures like her. Yet in the multiplayer portion, players are put in a separate story. Players are in a civil war that has broken out in Rapture, prior to the events of the first game. The current release date stands at the first half of 2010 (delayed from the original November 3, 2009 date).

In case you have been under a rock, Avatar is the upcoming 3-D science fiction epic film directed by James Cameron. It stars Sam Worthington, Zoë Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, and Michelle Rodriguez. The story follows Jake Sully, a former Marine paralyzed from the waist down in combat on Earth. Jake is selected to participate in the Avatar program, with the promise of giving him a healthy body. Jake travels to Pandora, a lush rainforest-covered extraterrestrial moon filled with incredible life forms, and the home to the Na’vi. The Na’vi are a humanoid race, considered primitive, but are in fact more evolutionarily advanced than humans.The Na’vi live in harmony with their unspoiled world, but unleash their formidable warrior abilities as humans encroach deeper into Pandora’s forests in search of valuable minerals. Avatar comes out December 18, 2009.

Definitely pleasing to anyone rooting for Jacob, but I prefer Alice personally. Ashley Greene, wow.

TRON Legacy is the story of Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), who looks into his father’s disappearance. In his search, he finds himself pulled into the same cyber universe of the first film, although more advanced and dangerous, where his father has been living for the past 25 years. TRON Legacy is coming to theaters in 2010.
